Last month, on a dark Wednesday evening, two members of the BEAM Team ran in the Run in the Dark for the Mark Pollock charity. Without any training whatsoever, the two of us embarked on the 5 km run around Battersea Park. And thank god it was only 5 km!
It was a great event - huge numbers turned out to support the charity. The atmosphere was light and friendly, with music blaring from the Red Bull car.
We stretched, warmed up, switched on our LED Light Up Shoes and headed for the start line. Response from our glowing shoes was immediate! Everyone was commenting and asking about them. It was great fun!
We managed to run the whole way and completed the 5km in 29 mins 36 secs. We even stopped for an interview with the Red Bull man.
Thank you to everyone who stopped to say hello and chat to us. We loved meeting you all! We think that Run in the Dark, and other such charity runs are a great way to get active, meet people and raise money for an awesome cause. We want to encourage and support everyone who likewise gets out and about. Why don’t you think about doing a charity run or walk in BEAMs – a double whammy charity raiser, since we give monthly donations to the Love Support Unite Foundation in Malawi.
Be bright and be seen in BEAM.
