This last weekend part of the BEAM TEAM went for a night out in Bristol. We decided to both wear our light up shoes, obviously, and quite early in to the night we spot that we're not the only ones (it's catching on!). I quickly engage these fellow LED shoe wearers and inquire as to where they got theirs, hoping to meet some fellow BEAMers. Unfortunately, both of the people I talked to had actually got theirs from eBay, and I have to admit they did look quite similar, and even held their own in terms of brightness. I was disappointed, to say the least, especially when they proudly told me theirs cost somewhere in the mid £20s (but didn't mention the 4 week shipping time).
Anyway, we carry on our own way and we continue to have a great time. As, the night draws to an end I realise I haven't seen these other people in light up shoes for a while. That is right until we are walking out the door. The reason it might have been hard to spot these two was because with both of theirs pairs only one shoe was working. In fact, when I say 'working', for one of those this meant flickering on and off inconsistently. £25 well spent for them I guess.
Now I'm not saying that BEAMs are perfect. Ours do malfunction occasionally and go faulty. But that's why we have such a simple and easy Returns Policy, so that if something goes wrong then you can get a replacement for free! I wonder how exactly that works when you've bought them from eBay? Do you post them back to China (for free?) and hope they happily send you a new pair that lasts longer this time? We don't think so. On the other hand, we guarantee free returns, which is reason Numero Uno to choose BEAM.
Reason Number Two is that we have partnered with Love Specs, a fantastic brand who donate all of their profits to a wonderful charity, The Love Support Unite Foundation (LSU). In order to give back, we donate a cut of our profits to the LSU as well. For every pair of the Original Series sold, £2 goes straight to the progression of self-sustainable Mkunkhu school and the provision of clean drinking water for people in Malawi. So far we have donated over £450, which has been enough to build two bread ovens and effect real change in the lives of the kids living in the school. We also now stock their Love Specs and Solar Charger on our site. If you don’t know about their Love Specs, you need to. Essentially they are diffraction sunglasses that turn any light in to love heart shapes. They are perfect for festivals, which is why we have combined our Original Series, the Love Specs and the Solar Charger (which connects with the cable for your BEAMs) in to a magnificent Bundle. You can read more about LSU and their mission on their website.
Finally, the third reason is that our aim is to continually roll out new styles and designs so that we will always have something you like, regardless of if you prefer white high-tops or pink platform shoes. Some of the other brands are content with leaving their range as it is. Not us! We've got some great things in the pipeline, so make sure to sign up to the Newsletter so that you'll be the first to hear about them. We are just about to restock all of our styles (expanding the number of sizes available for all them) and with this import we are bringing some samples of LED shoes we are really excited about too. We will be announcing and showing them off soon so that we can get your feedback on what to stock next.
